Mpox Outbreak Reported at Fort Dodge Prison


 Fort Dodge—Mpox, a contagious viral disease, has been identified at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility. In response, the Iowa Department of Corrections is enforcing stringent health measures, including enhanced sanitation and isolation protocols, to contain the outbreak and prevent further transmission. The detected strain, clade 2, is less severe compared to clade 1. Formerly known as monkeypox, Mpox spreads through physical contact and can lead to flu-like symptoms and painful skin lesions.
