Ahead of today’s 2pm kick-off at the Vitality Stadium, it’s time to predict Eddie Howe's lineup as Newcastle United take on his former club, Bournemouth. Here’s our predicted lineup and the reasoning behind it:
Predicted Lineup: (4-3-3) Pope – Livramento, Krafth, Burn, Hall – Longstaff, Bruno, Joelinton – Murphy, Isak, Gordon.
With Fabian Schar suspended, Emil Krafth is likely to step in alongside Dan Burn in central defense. Although not the most ideal pairing, they were instrumental in securing the 1-0 win over Southampton and will need to rise to the occasion again.
At left-back, Lewis Hall struggled in last weekend’s match, where he was shaky defensively, received an early yellow card, and made several costly errors. While Lloyd Kelly could be a viable alternative, Howe might choose to give Hall another chance, especially after his strong finish to the 2023/24 season and a promising pre-season.
Tino Livramento is expected to retain his spot at right-back. Meanwhile, Joe Willock and Harvey Barnes may again find themselves on the bench, with Anthony Gordon and Joelinton likely to start. The rest of the lineup remains unchanged, with this being the final game before Sandro Tonali returns from suspension.
What’s your prediction for the lineup?
