Matthew Gaudreau's wife, Madeline, is expecting their first child following his unexpected passing.

Madeline Gaudreau, the wife of Matthew Gaudreau who tragically lost his life in a biking accident on August 29 alongside his brother Johnny, is expecting their first child. A baby registry in their names indicates a due date of December 31, 2024. A photo shared on August 4 from Katie Gaudreau's bachelorette weekend shows Madeline with what appears to be a baby bump.

A GoFundMe page was established on August 30 to support Madeline and their unborn child, named Tripp. The page describes the family's immense loss, stating, "We are heartbroken to share the devastating news that the Gaudreau family has experienced a tragic and unfathomable loss. On August 29, 2024, a car accident took the lives of Matthew and his brother John. In this unimaginably difficult time, we are coming together to support Matthew's wife, Madeline, and their growing baby Tripp, and help alleviate some of the financial burdens they now face. Your support will allow them the time to grieve and heal as a family."

The brothers were involved in a fatal collision in New Jersey when they were struck by a driver suspected of being under the influence. The driver, Sean M. Higgins, has been charged with two counts of death by auto. The brothers were in town for their sister's wedding, which has been canceled in the wake of the tragedy.

The Columbus Blue Jackets, where Matthew and Johnny played professional hockey, expressed their shock and sadness, stating they will do everything they can to support the Gaudreau family during this time.
