FBI Received Prior Warning on Georgia School Shooting Suspect
The FBI disclosed that it had been alerted months earlier about the 14-year-old suspect accused of fatally shooting two students and two teachers, and injuring nine others at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. In May 2023, the agency received anonymous tips about online threats of a potential school shooting, accompanied by images of firearms. The FBI identified the then-13-year-old suspect and interviewed both him and his father, who claimed their hunting guns were inaccessible to the teen. Georgia Bureau of Investigation Director Chris Hosey confirmed that the teen would be charged with murder and tried as an adult
Russia Accused of Using U.S. Influencers to Spread Propaganda
Federal officials allege that Russian state media employees orchestrated a scheme to use American right-wing influencers to unknowingly spread pro-Kremlin propaganda. The Justice Department has charged two RT employees, Kostiantyn Kalashnikov and Elena Afanasyeva, for their roles in producing online content that amassed millions of views across platforms like YouTube. The indictment claims the videos, which focused on topics like immigration and inflation, lacked transparency about RT’s involvement. Allegedly, nearly $10 million was funneled to a U.S. company to aid in the campaign.
