Slipknot’s Sid Wilson Hospitalized After Suffering ‘Serious Burns’ from Bonfire Explosion

Sid Wilson, the 47-year-old musician from Slipknot, was hospitalized following a bonfire accident on his farm. On Friday, Wilson posted a video on Instagram from his hospital bed, explaining that he sustained burns from an "explosion" during the incident.

“Hey everybody, I had an explosion in my face,” Wilson said, lying in the hospital bed with an oxygen tube as doctors treated him. Despite the severity of the situation, he reassured fans, saying, “I’m okay. I’m gonna be okay. But I did have some serious burns to my face and my arms.”

Visibly shaken, Wilson continued, “You can see the phone shaking. That’s because I am holding it, and I am shaking. They’re doing some extra X-rays to make sure I didn’t inhale any flames.” He pointed to his cheek, noting, “You see I’m singed over there. My eyebrows are singed. My mouth is blistered. My arm is pretty bad — both my arms.”

Later, Wilson shared another update from inside an ambulance, revealing that he was being transferred to another hospital. “You can see my lips got hit pretty bad,” he said. “Worst part’s my arms. They’re gonna shave my head, so say goodbye to the long hair. It’s going bye-bye.” Despite the painful experience, Wilson called himself a “trooper” and assured fans that he’s "okay," explaining that the burns occurred from leftover flames in the bonfire on his farm.

In a subsequent video posted on Saturday, Wilson shared a selfie of his facial injuries, captioning it, “On my way home.”

Wilson's girlfriend, Kelly Osbourne, who shares a 1-year-old son with him, also took to Instagram Stories to update fans on his condition. “This is why you don’t f—k with burn piles,” Osbourne said in a video from Friday, explaining that Wilson "literally set himself on fire and exploded everything." The next day, she thanked fans for their well-wishes, adding, “He’s doing so much better. In fact, we are on the way to go pick him up from the hospital right now.”

Once home, Osbourne posted a video of herself gently wiping the burns on Wilson’s face with a small towel. “Okay, this is probably the worst part of having a burn,” she said, apologizing to Wilson if it caused him pain. Later, she shared a humorous clip of Wilson asleep on the couch, set to songs like “Firestarter” by The Prodigy and “We Didn’t Start the Fire” by Billy Joel.

Slipknot released a statement on Friday, confirming Wilson’s injuries: “Our brother Sid Wilson was in an accident today and sustained burns across his body. He’s recovering with his family and will still join us on stage at Rocklahoma next weekend. He thanks everyone for the well wishes and will see you all soon.”

Slipknot's next performance is scheduled for Sunday, September 1, at Rocklahoma in Pryor, Oklahoma.
