Netflix is gearing up to develop a sequel series to
One Tree Hill, with Hilarie Burton Morgan and Sophia Bush returning to reprise their iconic roles. The series, which blends elements of new-age comedy, will see the duo also stepping into the roles of executive producers, alongside their former co-star Danneel Ackles. Warner Bros. Television, the original producer of
One Tree Hill, will back the sequel, with Becky Hartman Edwards, known for her work on
Firefly Lane, serving as the writer.
In addition to Bush, Burton Morgan, and Ackles, the original One Tree Hill cast included James Lafferty, Chad Michael Murray, Bethany Joy Lenz, Paul Johansson, Lee Norris, and Antwon Tanner. The show, which aired for nine seasons, later featured Jackson Brundage, Lisa Goldstein, Austin Nichols, Robert Buckley, Shantel VanSanten, and Jana Kramer.
The sequel will continue to explore the lives of characters from a fictional North Carolina town, with Edwards, Bush, Burton Morgan, Danneel Ackles, and Jensen Ackles serving as executive producers, and Emily Moss Wilson as producer.
